Event planners often get confused about the different terms used to describe electricity. Don?t PANIC! We?re here to help. The classic example used to help people understand these concepts is to compare electricity and wiring to water and plumbing. In this analogy, voltage equals pressure, amps equal pipe size, and watts (or kilowatts) equal total water (or power) delivered. Thus, to deliver a required amount of water (power), you need a given size pipe at a given pressure. You can get the same amount of water (power or watts) through a smaller pipe (fewer amps) if you increase the pressure (more voltage). Conversely, you can use a bigger pipe (more amps) at a lower pressure (lower voltage). As you can see, all of these factors are interrelated. Electricity is just like water, just more complicated. The good news is that you don?t NEED to understand all of this technical stuff, you just need to call us, because WE understand this and we?re here to help. The Summer Heat Is Here! Our newest product is our T75KVA. This transformer can be used as a step down or ISO transformer. The ability to do either function with one transformer is uncommon. As the temperature in South Florida rises, so does the demand on the power grid as our customers found out over the weekend. On a Saturday in May the summertime heat was moving in and the South Florida power grid was carrying a significant load. Most did not notice any grid fluctuations or would never be affected by small power inconsistencies. If your TV flickers, so what? Just open another beer. However, if you are broadcasting a live TV show to Europe, your standards for power are significantly higher. Late Saturday afternoon, one of our customers called with an emergency. They were getting ready to do a live show to Germany and the grid power they were counting on to power the video production truck and the transportable satellite uplink had unexpectedly failed. FPL was busy and the building engineers were unavailable (Saturday, remember?.). They weren?t sure WHY their power was out, but, as they say, ?the show must go on? so they called us. We delivered a 175 KW movie-quiet generator within 90 minutes, helped hook up the video and satellite trucks, and helped get the production rolling again.
